Welcome to eWritable…

Everything you want to know about e-ink writing tablets…

E-ink tablets (also known as eNotes, eWriters, ePaper, and Paper Tablets) are tablets that are designed to provide a comfortable reading and writing experience by using a screen technology (e-ink) that is much more akin to real paper (and easier on the eyes) than conventional LCD screens.

The purpose of eWritable is to provide information and advice to help people to answer two questions:

  1. Should I buy an e-ink tablet?
  2. Which e-ink tablet should I buy?

If you’ve found this website, it’s probably because you’ve just discovered e-ink tablets and are intrigued enough to want to learn more.

If so, you will find my Introduction to E-Ink Tablets useful – it explains what e-ink tablets are, their capabilities, and their advantages and disadvantages. This should help you to decide if an e-ink tablet is right for you.

If you think you’d like to get an e-ink tablet for yourself then have a read of my E-Ink Tablet Buying Guide. This will give you an idea of the things you may wish to consider before purchasing.

You can compare different models with my interactive E-Ink Tablet Comparison Table and you can also check out my personal recommendations.

Once you’ve narrowed down your options, you might want to read my individual product reviews before settling on which e-ink tablet to buy.

What is my experience of e-ink tablets?

For those wondering about my credentials are for talking about e-ink tablets: I’ve been using them for several years, reviewing and writing about them for nearly two years, and the number of e-ink tablets I own runs well into double digits.

This is a far cry from the vast majority of online reviewers that appear to have never even touched an e-ink tablet in their lives! Beware of such websites because their information and recommendations are often poorly researched, mostly rely on second-hand experience (plagiarism), and are sometimes completely inaccurate!

There are also well-meaning tech reviewers that have reviewed a single e-ink tablet (usually because the manufacturer has sent them a free unit in exchange for positive promotion), and whilst they are able to compare it to a regular tablet or traditional pen-and-paper, they do not have a comprehensive understanding of all e-ink tablets. For these reviewers, whichever brand of e-ink tablet they have gotten hold of forms the basis of their understanding of all e-ink tablets, without taking into account the different capabilities and nuances of myriad products on the market.

Having said that, there are a minority of genuine reviewers whom I do not always agree with (some things are subjective) but do provide high-quality information. I provide links to their latest content in my e-ink tablet newsfeed, along with the latest announcements from all the major brands.

Here’s a pic of my current (June 25) collection of e-ink tablets…
